I actually see this thread appears on the forum for MacOS, back to el Capitan. People were advising to switch browsers. lol.
This is a messaging service, somewhere in the bowels of iOS - or maybe even deeper in some shared core codebase, across OS types.
But it just started for me now, with iOS 15.0.2. I have all Notifications settings on, and configured like when this did not happen.
iPhone 13 Mini
Verify your settings in Settings > Messages
Allow notifications
Alert on Lock Screen
Lock Screen appearance: Show previews Always
If nothing else, try restarting the device

iOS 15: notifications say "You have received a new message" Previews are gone.
