Stocks app autolaunching at random times since updating to Big Sur

I updated to big sur sort of recently. Almost immediately the stocks app would randomly autolaunch throughout the day. The first time it did it five or six times during an hour of watching a show. Recently it has happened less often but it will occasionally just start up while I'm writing an email or trying to work and it has gotten annoying. I thought it might be a handoff thing so I made sure it's not running on my phone but that doesn't seem to be the issue. The only thread I found on here was over a year old and from an older version of OS, catalina maybe? Anyway there wasn't a good resolution. Any tips?

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, the Stocks app unexpectedly opens while you use your Mac after updating to Big Sur. We'll do our best to assist.

When this occurs, does it open the Stocks app to a specific page or the main homepage? Are you receiving a notification around this time for another app?

Here's what we'd test first, try to quit the Stocks app when this occurs. Restart your Mac normally: Log out, sleep, wake, restart, or shut down your Mac

Then once it starts up, hold the Shift key on your keyboard and relaunch the Stocks app. Release the Shift key once the app opens completely. It should remove the app's saved state and hopefully resolve this for you.

If not, let us know if you receive any specific notifications around this timeframe and which apps they're coming from.
