software update failed, an error occurred downloading IOS14.8

Repeatedly tried to download and install this update. Sufficient space for download and swapspace on the Iphone SE. Also tried to upgrade to IOS 15 again with sufficient space on Iphone SE, this says I have insufficient space.. ideas anyone?

Thankyou for your helpful reply, unfortunately the factory reset and a reload using Itunes was the result, the phone is now working and up to date. Previous to this it did try to update from my mobile provider using almost all of my data allowance... even though it was connected to WiFi....!? no idea how it managed to do this.

In the Settings app on your iPhone check General / iPhone storage to see if the storage is really short of space, or if the software is hallucinating. You might have to try offloading some of your stored content to make enough free space, either to iCloud or an external storage device. See Connect external storage devices to iPhone - Apple Support.

Your other option might be to wipe the phone (factory reset) and setup again from scratch. This would probably be a lot more effort so I consider it to be the option of last resort.
