Macbook battery broke, and I am trying to reinstall macOS.

My Macbook battery broke, and I am trying to reinstall macOS. However, I keep getting the message that the mac must be connected to its power adapter. I get the feeling that it is assuming that it is not connected because the battery is broken. Is there a way for me to do the installation without replacing the battery?

If you remove the battery, you can possibly have the Mac plugged in to its charger for the update without the use of the battery. This depends on the model of Mac you have.
