This is my father's laptop. Opened it and suddenly the screen stopped working. It still lights up evenly, but there is no image, just black. We can adjust the brightness and see the brightness changing but nothing else.
Tried reset macOS (fresh), connecting to an external display works fine, I’ve tried the reset PRAM/NVRAM and SMC, nothing has worked so far.

If your Mac starts up to a blank screen (white, black, gray, or blue)

If your Mac starts up to a blank screen (white, black, gray, or blue)
Tried that a couple of times, no luck. :/
If it worked as expected with an external display, it sounds like you may have a Hardwire issue with the built-in display.
