Apple Configurator not working on my iPhone

Apple Configurator 2.14 isn't working on my M1 iMac, with an iPhone 12 and iOS 15.0.2. Version 1 never really worked with my old Intel iMac but 2 did. But this arrangement isn't working. The home screen is just all blue, not a rendition of my actual screen, and rearranging the layout doesn't stick. Nothing changes. How annoying.
