iOS 15.1 Calendar app is laggy and unreliable

When swiping between days, data often shows up as stale (events on the wrong day, or events at the "right" time but with wrong title).

Keeping the same day view open for up to 10 seconds seems to correct the issue (temporarily). This appears to be some kind of caching bug.

(This was *not* an issue in 15.0, 15.0.1 or 15.0.2. I have one MS Exchange calendar and three Google calendars.)

This has been reported by others as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/iOSBeta/comments/pxyrz2/calendar_is_extremely_laggyunusable_ios_151_beta/

iOS 15.1.1 is only available for iPhone and iPhone 13 models.

iOS 15.1.1 improves call drop performance on iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models.

which basically means that you’ll have less dropped calls, and you’ll have better experiences with the phone app.

don’t worry about it, your iPhone 6s is still supported, and should continue getting updates until the release of iOS 16, assuming I understand correctly.

I’ve had the same problem since updating to iOS 15.1 and it affects both my iPhone and my iPad. Actually, the problem is getting worse by the day. As of today, I cannot use the calendar app at all. When I open it, it takes anywhere between 5 to 10 seconds to show something, if anything. In many cases the app shuts down by itself. In other, the majority of the cases, the app opens but I cannot manipulate it (change days, open events, create events, etc.). It is a pain in the neck…

It’s a total joke. Apple arrogance !! They are fully aware and dragging their feet whilst many of us are screwed because of their poor testing and release mgmt of upgrades. Bunch of twats

i have had 3 apple engineers on the phone and non of them have a clue.

does anyone know how we can get this escalated to the public domain which should damage apples reputation for their lack of professionalism. ??

I tend to stick to Samsung, partially because apple doesn’t listen/ care, and partly because I just like how Samsung looks and works. There are also MANY features that iPhones don’t have, like reverse wireless charging for example. You can place two Samsung phones together, and the one on the bottom will charge the one on top. (Samsung Galaxy S10 or newer)

the calendar app on my iPad mini (my first, and last apple device) is working fine.

BUT,I don’t have anything in the calendar, which may, or may not make a difference. I’m on the latest version of iOS just like you other guys, and everything is good. (Or, the best that you can get from apple, which isn’t all that good.) I will always be a Samsung guy.

I'm with you on that. Apple has always seemed to have good support, and cared about what their customers want. But it’s starting to seem like they truly don’t care. I’ve contacted apple support a couple times, and also left feedback for a couple things throughout the 2 years I’ve had my iPad.

another thing I’ve noticed is:

apple does have people who monitor this, and they see all the complaints. And for the most part, what do they do? Nothing.

I am definitely a Samsung guy, and I urge all of you to try that too. Because Samsung cares!

one of the things they said was that in the newest operating system they released, (One UI 4, based on android 12) they said that most of the changes that were made, were changes that were suggested by the users.

I understand that completely. I don’t expect a response, unless that response is taking action and fixing the problem. Apple has built up a name for themselves in the world of support, and even when you post feedback, or contact support, they really don’t care.

this isn’t the first time a long thread has been made just criticizing apple for HORRID support, and not caring about their customers. That thread was over 200 pages long. Apple supervised it all the way through, and yet never took action to fix it. I will say it again, and again: Samsung makes the best phones and tablets, and they listen to complaints.

Yes,I understand that…I have tried feedback, I have tried support as well. It’s not like it’s their job to fix it, but I feel like this could be reported to someone higher up, or they could find some way to make it happen. Don’t get me wrong, apple has good products, with (mostly) good support. But I get what you’re saying, and that’s totally true, but they also don’t listen when you place feedback, or have a problem.

Its good that you try to stand up for apple. I just don’t feel like they’re trying I fix the issues here. While, as you mentioned, it isn’t the job of the people who monitor these forums, I feel like they could pass info on, or get just a couple guys who have a dedicated job of passing the complaints on.

I am quite convinced Apple is aware of the issue and for quite sure they work on a fix, like they have to fix many other issues.
I can also imagine this Calendar issue is not considered a critical bug, hence the release of a fix will take some time, lets trust that they thoroughly test the fix, which takes time.

I suspect you're correct in that this is not considered a critical bug, especially as it doesn't seem especially widespread. For the end-user, those are some of the most frustrating. I don't have this issue but I sympathize with those who do.
