iOS 15.1 Calendar app is laggy and unreliable

When swiping between days, data often shows up as stale (events on the wrong day, or events at the "right" time but with wrong title).

Keeping the same day view open for up to 10 seconds seems to correct the issue (temporarily). This appears to be some kind of caching bug.

(This was *not* an issue in 15.0, 15.0.1 or 15.0.2. I have one MS Exchange calendar and three Google calendars.)

The part the really stinks is the data overlapping when swiping between days. I can’t tell what’s real and what isn’t. I have to touch the actual meeting for it to refresh or close and reopen the app. At least if the data was correct and it was just laggy it wouldn’t be as bad. Also, it does appear to be some cache issue. In list view when scrolling into future dates it lags, but if I scroll back up and then back down it’s fine until it gets to new data and it starts lagging and refreshing. I don’t care how big the calendar data is, this worked fine until 15.1.

Here's what Apple support just told me:

Hi CUSTOMER,

Thanks for your patience. I received an update about your case. I tried to contact you by phone but was unable to reach you.

Our engineers let us know the issue is currently under investigation, but they do not have a timeline for the resolution so it could be days, weeks, or even months. We recommend keeping your devices up to date in the meantime and please let me know if anything changes. When I hear back with a workaround or resolution I will let you know.

Thanks,

I gave up after 3 calls with 'senior ' engineers. They asked our exchange team to get in contact with them as the problem (with their failing calendar app) seems to be on our side. what a joke.

they don't care or have the right & competent people. never seen such incompetence in support processes. @apple check bug report which I failed immediate after IOS 15.1 release > FB9724066

I'm really frustrated about apple.

iPhone Xr here, 15.1. Also kicked out Exchange and reconfigured. Nothing changed.

As this is my Company iPhone, I am not able to use the phone right now. It is really important for me, as I can look for changes to meetings and scheduled task in general.

It is a shame, that no one is responding to this. As far as I know, there is no workaround for this.

If I accept a meeting that is a series, the acceptance mail is send out multiple times also. A colleague of mine is having the same issues. I have to now switch of the phone to stop the sending out of the acceptance mails.

Unbelievable...

That is hilarious. My company IT dept demanded that we all update to 15.1 as the earlier OS "had security risks". And in fact they said anyone checking email from iOS 14 would then be blocked until updating to 15.

Having regretfully done that I am now faced with an unusable calendar! And I cannot even rollback via iTunes as Apple has stopped signing 14!

This is pretty shambolic.

ECdW023, this is seems like a bullsh*t solution, sorry. The whole point of this thread is that we want Exchange calendars to work alongside all other sources of calendars in the stock, built-in iOS Calendar app. "Select the app that has 'productivity' under the name" – which app is this? The standard iOS one? A 3rd party app?

There’s clearly inconsistent responses here which proves apple have not fixed the problem. Does anyone know how we get this highlighted in the public domain? Apples arrogance of not recognizing the crap they have caused should not go without some pain. 15.1.1 should have been focused on this issue instead of some other menial problem. Not impressed at all.
