Trackpad misses first tap after upgrade to Monterey

After upgrading to Monterey (12.0.1 (21A559) ), using tap (tap to click is activated in trackpad) the first time does nothing. I always need to tap a second time to click/choose something/get in another tab inside my browser etc.

This happens in every program I tried.

Rebooting the machine ( macbook pro 16", 2019) several times didn't bring anything.

I hope this gets fixed in the first update because it's really annoying.

P.S.: Using macbooks and their OSs for more than a decade, this is the first time I had the slightest problem with their -so far- perfectly working trackpad..

Yes, 12.1 fixes it, it's in the description of the update as one of the bugs that were fixed.

I have the same issue and it's driving me crazy. Also, my GarageBand won't open on the first try now. Apple support is just as bad as every other company now. They used to have computer techs who knew the answers and now they are just people who read the same instructions that we do to try and fix the issues. So you wind up on the phone hours to do what you already did before calling.

Problem still persists, no official updates yet. In fact just when I was login in here I had to tap 3 times in the login credential fields for the trackpad to recognize the input. It's extremely annoying and it is surprising to me Apple messed up with such a basic functionality that has always worked perfectly before Monterey.

My machine is an intel MacBook Pro mid-2019 full spec.

Just to pile on, I am having the same issue. MBP using an external Magic Trackpad. Figured it was my Magic Trackpad since it's several years old, or maybe I was just at fault even though I've never had issues tapping before, but now that I think about it, it only started happening after my upgrade. Annoying, but not infuriating -- still, needs to be fixed, since annoying can eventually become infuriating :)
