Trackpad misses first tap after upgrade to Monterey

Frustratingly, it's intermittent. Thought it might be my hardware. Guess we'll have to hope 12.0.2 or 12.1 fixes it.

zoom gesture is sometime not registering also. Must be related

Same problem here. Just filed a bug report. It's VERY annoying to not have the first tap to work as it should. Why do they change things when there is absolutely no need to?

It's very strange, bordering on annoying, that Apple flagged this as helpful... tweaking the trackpad will not/does not help—they broke something and it needs to be fixed.

MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018) - the same issues. I did not change any settings, previously the trackpad worked perfectly :(

Fond out that Apple delete my post about that the latest xxx of Monterey solved the problem. I don’t understand why it’s forbidden to writ about xxx

They took mine down too. I'm assuming it's because they don't want anything negative about them, which is nonsense.

Same here - problem still exists. I am on 14 inch M1 Pro, 12.1 and when I try to mark several files in finder the 2nd tab requires 3 attempts.

MacBook 16" 2019. Issue appeared after update to 12.1

Oh..Not fixed for me... On the contrary, after update there were even more lags and timings more increase between them

Tap to click Not fixed in OS12.1. First tap generally works. Second tap to open, select text, etc., does NOT work. Any subsidiary tap accompanying control, option, command does NOT work. I've adjusted settings in both Trackpad and Accessibility > Pointer Control > Trackpad Option and nothing works. What I have noticed is second tap as noted above 'clicks in' after three (3) subsequent taps. For example, in Numbers, with control/command I have to tap three (3) times, slowly or with relatively long time gap between, to select a second or range of spreadsheet cells. Pain in the fingers this is. I just bought this M1 Max because I thought my 2018 MacBook Pro with useless 'butterfly' keyboard was finally dying; only to now realise it's probably Monterey fault all along.
