IOS 15.1 not receiving text message notifications on lock screen

After update to IOS 15.1 I'm not receiving text message notifications when lock screen is on. I have enable "show on lock screen" and "show previews", Do Not Disturb is disabled. iPhone 11 Pro. I've also restarted phone.

Hi,

Do you have Scheduled Summary enabled within Settings > Notifications?

View and respond to notifications on iPhone - Apple Support

If so, disabling this feature should resolve your issue.

Hope this helps!

The following is what Apple Support had me do and it corrected my issues. I have iPhone 11PRO

Let's attempt the following steps. Navigate to Settings > Notifications > Messages and turn off Allow Notifications. Once it's off, navigate to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before. If you're using iCloud Keychain, these settings are also removed from other signed-in devices.

Your iPhone will restart during this specific reset. After it resets, you will need to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network and turn on notifications for Messages again. Test to see if that helps both on Wi-Fi and on your cellular network.

My dad started having this problem on his iPhone 11 sometime in the last month or so, no preview or even sound, nothing but a notification badge when unlocked. He doesn’t have a watch but he does have an iPad so I tried resetting his network as someone suggested. That didn’t work so I started going through his settings and comparing them to mine. I have an 11 Pro and have not had this issue but I also haven’t updated iOS yet. Despite his having Notifications>Messages>ShowPreviews>Always (Default) on, he wasn’t getting notifications. I don’t even want to admit how long it took me to figure out he had this

He swears he didn’t change

Notifications>Show Previews> to When Unlocked instead of Always. He’s in his eighties but I believe him because he won’t even use Siri to send a text or make a call so now I’m wondering if an update changed that setting??

Hello one-of-8.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. We can understand how not receiving text notifications would be an issue. Allow us to investigate this issue and assist in any way we can. We'd like to gather some additional details from you. When this issue occurs, does it occur with all contacts that send you a text? Is this issue only occurring with SMS text messages (green bubbles) or iMessages as well (blue bubbles)?

Does this issue occur with both Wi-Fi or cellular service or both? You did mention that restarting your iPhone didn't help.

Keep us updated on your results. Best of luck.

I've had the same issue (11 pro max on ios 15.3). It appeared out of nowhere. I found this solution which seems to have worked - no idea why and it makes no sense but worth a try before doing a reset as it seems to have solved things for me (apologies if it was posted earlier in the chain). Turn off and on the "Announce Notifications" feature for messages - go to Settings, then Notifications, then Siri Suggestions, then turn Allow Notifications off, exit out of the Settings app, then re-enter it and turn it back on.

Adding my name to the list of people complaining about this issue. I have had this issue for a long while now, when I had my iPhone 8 and now the 13. Restarts, resets, unpairing and repairing and manipulating notification settings has not fixed this issue. Ultimately, this post lead me to confirm it only occurs when I'm wearing my Apple watch, with the statements confirmed of "its just how it works now when paired with an Apple watch". When my watch is on my wrist and my phone is locked, absolutely no notifications, and when I remove the watch it works as expect. I tested this with my wife's phone and watch as well. Same exact issue with two different devices. This is the absolutely the worst feature that no amount of settings adjustments seems to be able to change. It's gotten me in trouble with personal and work relationships because I constantly miss the fact that I've been contacted. You're now forcing me to stop using a product I paid money for, and forget even considering upgrading at this point, so there goes that potential revenue Apple. I can't risk wearing the watch any longer.

So I just went into the apple store and they told me it is because I have an Apple Watch. Apparently, when an Apple Watch is synced to an iPhone, all the notifications of through the watch…there will not be notifications on the phone.

I also had the notifications turned off on my watch (not on my phone)…so I turned my watch notifications on and now it all works through my watch…which frankly sucks. I don’t want the notifications going through my watch, I want them going through my iPhone…but it doesn’t work that way now.
