iPhone 12 Pro Brightness 🔅 🔆

my phone brightness I keeps on dimming all the way to almost as low as it can go (but not quite). I have auto brightness shut off and I’ve rebooted my phone since the problem began but I’m still having problems. Has anyone had this and can anyone tell me how to prevent this? I was on a hike the other day and the screen was so dim compared to the sunlight I couldn’t even type in my passcode because I couldn’t see the screen (to enter my passcode or turn up the brightness). It’s super annoying.
