Bluetooth Speakers not working after upgrade

Before I did the upgrade my Samsung Soundbar was working just fine on my M1 Mac mini, but now with Monterey I am not able to get that, or any other bluetooth speaker to work.

The mini can see it, and connect, but it will not put the the speaker into the sound output option.

The Bitty Boom speaker does go into the sound output option, but as soon as it connects it will disconnect.

It seems my only speaker option that sticks is the Mac mini speakers.

I did do a hard wire into the soundbar via the headphone jack and that works fine, but it looks like the issues months ago with bluetooth are back again.

Hi,

I've updated recently also to Monterey and my faithful working bluetooth mouse lost the connection - I couldn't establish any connection to it again. And I tried it very hard (about 4 hours every 3 days !!).

At last I downgraded back to Big Sur and all is working well again - that is the (not really) short story.

From Apple you will only get the info (so did I) it is a problem of the "3rd party" hardware manufacturer (like firmware)...

There are some things you can try (which I also tried):

  • try the safe mode:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

  • try debug mode of bluetooth-module:

  • reset SMC:

  • check your Mac with EtrecheckPro:

Good luck and do not give up :-)

I have also had this problem. I have partially fixed it as I can get my Samsung sound bar to connect, by removing the old bluetooth connection profile in bluetooth preferences, then re starting my Apple Mac M1 (Monterey) at the same time, I have pulled out the power plug from my Samsung sound bar and re plugging it in. I then reconnect the sound bar by clicking pair on the samsung bar controller and finding the Samsung soundbar (AV N550) and reconnecting in bluetooth preferences. This reconnected sounder then shows in the sound preference menu. The Sound bar then works.

Unfortunately, if I restart the Mac or come back to the Mac after using AirPods or the system speakers even though soundbar is showing as connected in the bluetooth menu bar, the soundbar is no longer showing in the sound output options menu as a speaker. It's just disappeared from the menu. The only way to fix it is to disconnect, forget the speaker, turn off and unplug and then replug the sounder and reconnect again. Very Annoying - Please sort it out Apple!

I did all including SMC reset but it didn't do much.

Here's what seemed to work:

  1. I disconnnected and removed my soundbar from the bluetooth list
  2. I started the pairing process as you would with a new device. i.e. Open BT options and let it discover your device (you might need to initiate a pairing option on your actual device
  3. Once it reconnected, the soundbar became available in the Sound options list.

I hope this helps :)

Until they fix the bugs in the next update, the only way I've gotten my Samsung soundbar to work is to:

1) open bluetooth preferences and delete it;

2) while the soundbar is off, hold down the pause/play button, until you see "INT" on the soundbar's mini readout;

3) turn on the soundbar and press pair; and

4) open bluetooth preferences and re-add the soundbar as a "new device".

Unfortunately, you have to do this almost every single time you want to use the soundbar.

Same issue here. New MacBook Pro 2021 (Monterey) - unable to play sound via Samsung Soundbar K335 over Bluetooth. Worked 100% perfectly on previous iMac and Big Sur. Only fix I have is to remove power from Soundbar and then reconnect it to the MacBook as a new bluetooth device - but it's very irritating to do this every day. A Monterey/M1 bug I fear.

I have the same result on my iMac Retina 5K 27" Late 2015 after upgrading to Monterey, connecting to Samsung Soundbar K-360. It shows up in my list of Bluetooth devices, I can connect and see the display on my soundbar change to IMAC CONNECTED, then the source of my soundbar goes from BT back to D IN (my TV source). Prior to upgrading from Big Sur to Monterey, the connection never dropped like this, and I was able to direct my iMac sound to my soundbar via Bluetooth.

Please, Apple, fix this bug because at this point the only option I have seems to be to downgrade to Big Sur, and you have not even made that out to be an easy process. I have come to expect more from you guys in terms of quality and testing, and clearly that same set of standards has not been met with Monterey.

And I just tried doing a cast from Chrome to my Google Nest Mini and seeing the same issues I had before the BT update months back, there is about a second delay with video and audio and about a second delay for starting and stoping.

This was the same issues I had back at the start of the year when I got my M1 mini, then the update that was pushed out in February fixed it.

The bug seems to be back.

Same here for my M1 Macbook Air. My Google Nest Audio Bluetooth connection abruptly dies and, worst of all, I CAN'T RE-ESTABLISH THE CONNECTION UNLESS I RESTART THE MACBOOK.

Another problem: my Logicool webcam also stopped working entirely after I updated.

I want the option of reinstalling Big Sur without wiping all my data. This is really upsetting and I can't work without a Bluetooth audio connection.

Please, please fix this, Apple. I've used your products for over two decades and I've never seen such sloppiness from you.
