Bluetooth Speakers not working after upgrade

Before I did the upgrade my Samsung Soundbar was working just fine on my M1 Mac mini, but now with Monterey I am not able to get that, or any other bluetooth speaker to work.

The mini can see it, and connect, but it will not put the the speaker into the sound output option.

The Bitty Boom speaker does go into the sound output option, but as soon as it connects it will disconnect.

It seems my only speaker option that sticks is the Mac mini speakers.

I did do a hard wire into the soundbar via the headphone jack and that works fine, but it looks like the issues months ago with bluetooth are back again.

Hi,

I've updated recently also to Monterey and my faithful working bluetooth mouse lost the connection - I couldn't establish any connection to it again. And I tried it very hard (about 4 hours every 3 days !!).

At last I downgraded back to Big Sur and all is working well again - that is the (not really) short story.

From Apple you will only get the info (so did I) it is a problem of the "3rd party" hardware manufacturer (like firmware)...

There are some things you can try (which I also tried):

  • try the safe mode:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

  • try debug mode of bluetooth-module:

Use "Reset the Bluetooth module" to Fix Constant Bluetooth Disconnections - User Tips

  • reset SMC:

  • check your Mac with EtrecheckPro:

Good luck and do not give up :-)

OMG that worked! Thank you so much!

I'm not sure if this is relevant for figuring out what the problem is - when the bluetooth was "connected" to the soundbar but not showing the soundbar as a sound output, the soundbar was showing up as a device - like there was a picture of a speaker under devices. But after doing everything above, the soundbar shows up as a set of headphones.

I am having the same issue with my Bose speaker, my iHome speaker and my uConnect in my vehicle. Immediately after updating, none of these devices would connect via Bluetooth although all worked fine before. Also my iWatch 2 now no longer connects completely like it did before. Sorry apple I’m not updating to a new one. It’s not time.

Apple needs to fix the bugs they put into this update
