Carplay still doesn't work consistently after update to iOS15. and update to iOS15.1. Most of the time, it doesn't connect. When it does connect, it soon disconnects. A couple of times it froze the entire car onboard system. Why on earth has Apple released a major system updates and two minor subsequent updates with so many issues? I never had any issues before with iOS14.xx Many rely on Carplay for navigation.

Hi All - I had similar issues with my Peugeot 3008. Here are steps I took to solve it (for most o the time)
Important: I noticed that sometimes CarPlay won't be detected. Looks like the Car's Multi Media System has an issue here.
In this case reboot it ;-) - Disconnect the cable from the iPhone, then Press and HOLD the car's multi media system key with the Musical Note (i.e Music/Audio Source) and the Multi Media system will reboot. Wait for the car to connect BT wise and then try CarPlay again.
As of today I get much better success connecting the phone to the car and get CarPlay to work.

Wrong. It is not a problem with the vehicle. It’s a problem with iOS 15.1. I have a 2021Honda CRV and CarPlay quit working with that update when it was fine before.
It’s an iOS issue my friends iPhone works and my CarPlay comes up he’s on an earlier version of iOS where as I’m on iOS 15.1 and ever since I updated to it my CarPlay don’t come up for my phone 🙄
I tried this and it worked the first time. But then, a day later, it was back to not working. Thankfully, the wired connection works, so at least I'm not losing my mind.
I just bought a 2021 Jeep Compass and for the life of me, I just can’t get CarPlay to work. The funny thing is, it worked on the first day. But the next morning, it just wouldn’t work. The Bluetooth connects, but CarPlay seems elusive. Even when I plug it in via USB, i have to plug in and plug out a couple of time before CarPlay even pops up. I can’t tell how much of a hair-pulling experience this is. Especially for a trillion dollar company that’s built on the foundation of “it just works”. I hate to say it, but this is deeply disappointing from Apple. I pray and hope they fix it soon.
So true. I notice that with my Pioneer DMH-2660NEX head unit. It does not connect quick enough to use Apple Carplay. My iPhone 12 mini connects and disconnects then connects again to use Apple Carplay. I hope Apple will resolve this issue someday.
I just bought a new car. Was so excited to use CarPlay. Now, it’s not working at all. Like the car doesn’t even acknowledge the phone. It’s so frustrating with navigation especially. Please fix this ASAP Apple!!
Yo all of you saying it’s the cars fault. ********. It worked perfectly up until I installed iOS 15 on my phone. Since then, nothing but problems. The beauty of Apple has always been its plug and play capability. This has been a shoddy release. Fix it Apple
If you don’t have anything helpful or informative to add to this discussion, why comment? These are what the discussion groups are for. And if enough people to report an issue with the iOS maybe Apple will acknowledge there is a problem.
Because it’s accurate - no phone is vital for a commute, as much as we might like to think it is.
In particular, sometimes people post that not having this function or that is dangerous; instead any safety official or police officer would tell you that if it is otherwise being a distraction, you should shut your phone off until you arrive.
I have a very similar problem with my 2015 VW Touran. My iPhone 13 Pro connected fine with a Lightning cable after upgrading to iOS 15.1 the first few times but it refuses to connect since November 9th. My old iPhone 7 also on iOS 15.1 connects just fine via cable immediately. On this make and model car there is no wireless CarPlay option. It only works with a USB cable. No fiddling, cable changes, etc. have worked. I have not tried resetting the car or the phone yet as that is a lot of hassle. Apple, please fix this problem.
I do see that graphic and I see my car listed. It is identical between the 7 & 13 Pro. All settings are identical, both phones worked at these settings. The settings have not been changed, and all of a sudden the 13 decided not to work with my VW anymore as far as car play is concerned. It still connects to the car via Bluetooth but CarPlay only works with a cable on my VW. The 13 is now recognized as a USB device somehow, but it is no longer recognized as an iPhone. It is a complete mystery, at least to me.
In the past I have had issues connecting with the iPhone 7, but that was easily fixed by either rebooting the car or the phone, or sometimes both. And is was rare.
I have a 2018 Hyundai Sonata and it worked fine until the updates. Now, Apple Music and Amazon music do not work. Navigation works sometimes but neither of the music apps work. They did work for a while at first then quit working about a week ago.
I have gone to the iconnect store in Lagos to fix this issue and was told to wait for the next update. My car is a Mercedes E350 2011 model.
the Bluetooth connection is currently crappy, as a result I can’t navigate with google maps like before.
please if anyone at apple can read this, let’s have an update ASAP that addresses this problem. Thank you
Ever since I updated my iPhone 13 to iOS 15.1.1, Apple CarPlay intermittently doesn’t run on my Sony XAVAX1000 Receiver when I connect the USB cable. I either have to reconnect the cable once or several times or restart the engine on the car and then connect the cable again for Apple CarPlay to run. I tried another Apple lightning charger cable and had the same problem. I tried two other iPhones on iOS version 15.1 and 15.1.1 and had the same problem but when I tried my iPhone 7 on iOS 15.1 no problems at all and it connected every time. Therefore I believe it’s something to do with iPhone 13 and iOS 15.1.1. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a fix for this from Apple? Does IOS 15.2 fix this? I’m very cautious about just upgrading to another iOS version as it may fix one problem and break another as that’s what happened when I upgraded from 15 to 15.1.1 to resolve a storage calculating problem but then it caused the problems that I’m currently having with CarPlay.
But with an iPhone 6s Plus iOS 14.8.1 work flawlessly, this behavior began when install iOS 15.1 (I skipped preview releases) on my 12 pro max
iOS 15.1 still doesn't fix carplay issues.
