Carplay still doesn't work consistently after update to iOS15. and update to iOS15.1. Most of the time, it doesn't connect. When it does connect, it soon disconnects. A couple of times it froze the entire car onboard system. Why on earth has Apple released a major system updates and two minor subsequent updates with so many issues? I never had any issues before with iOS14.xx Many rely on Carplay for navigation.

Hi All - I had similar issues with my Peugeot 3008. Here are steps I took to solve it (for most o the time)
Important: I noticed that sometimes CarPlay won't be detected. Looks like the Car's Multi Media System has an issue here.
In this case reboot it ;-) - Disconnect the cable from the iPhone, then Press and HOLD the car's multi media system key with the Musical Note (i.e Music/Audio Source) and the Multi Media system will reboot. Wait for the car to connect BT wise and then try CarPlay again.
As of today I get much better success connecting the phone to the car and get CarPlay to work.

I have a 2017 Kia Soul. Updating the nav system software (on a micro SD card via computer download ) has helped significantly. Still some issues (like won’t pick up voice on Google maps or Waze) but at least it’s usable now. Since Hyundai =Kia, hope this helps!!
Hi so I had the same issue. It was driving me nuts because I just moved to a new town and NEED navigation. One of the earlier posts said that they reset the car back to factory settings. Since I had nothing too customized on my car I didn’t mind to try. And that worked. I haven’t had problems after that. On the car screen just reset. It’ll ask if you are sure and you will lose all your settings. But just try that before you get a Samsung.
Sony XAV-AX8000 and AX5000 head units (latest firmware) in Jeep and RV, both wired connections. Pro Max 13, IOS 15-15.2. Neither would recognize CarPlay, BT worked fine and phone would charge while connected. Reset, reboot, etc and nothing worked. Just now disabled some settings turned on by Apple in Handoff, rebooted and both connect perfectly now. General>Airplay & Handoff>Auto Airplay to TVs (never) and Transfer to HomePod (off). It’s only been a day, but seems to be working fine now.

Fixed it. Factory reset the trucks screen and uninstalled unconnect ap. Worked like a charm

That indicates the problem is in your car stereo, not in the phone.
There is no "crash and reboot" sequence the phone can send the car stereo, so the fact that it is doing so means the car stereo is at fault.
I would contact Pioneer and check if they have any firmware updates available for it, assuming your firmware can be updated.
Today I did a factory reset my Pioneer Stereo Unit, same behavior, it works until open music app, then crash. After that, I turn it ON, then, do not open music app, i played directly from iPhone music app and works fine. If you show on screen music app, carplay crash, also with small player and maps screen
It’s fixed. All I needed to do was factory reset my truck….
Also did a factory reset. Seems to be working now. So of all the things I’ve seen, that seems to work. For those that change a lot of settings, that can be annoying.
Enabling Siri and Content & Privacy Restriction worked 👍🏻
That sounds more like a problem with your vehicle then with your phone. Or possibly your phone has a hardware issue. But it is software it won't work sometimes it is it works or it doesn't.
Contact your dealer and click on the Get Support link at the top right of this page to contact Apple.
My pioneer dmh-2600nex has this behavior, after update my iphone 12 pro max with iOS 15.1 , constantly crash my car stereo and reboot, the only way that I figure out to work is using bluetooth. I hope they solve this quickly
They will if it's Apple's issue; they won't if it's the fault of the auto entertainment system.
Regardless, Apple is not here, we're all just fellow users like you.
iOS 15.1 still doesn't fix carplay issues.
