All facial recognition data gone?

I opened Photos today to find some photos of a specific person, and when I clicked on People, after a very long time with the spinning beach ball, I got this message: 0 Photos Scanned

Does this mean all the recognition and tagging I've done over the years since Photos got facial recognition is now gone? Where did it go? I updated to Monterey yesterday, but I haven't checked the People section in Photos for a while, so, it could have happened before and I'm just now noticing.
