Unrecognizable file format in Photos

Suddenly .JPG files are "Unrecognizable file format?" in Photos v6.0. Any suggested work around? Thanks...

What - all jpg files?

Are they on an external drive? If the drive is ExFAT, there is a bug in earlier versions of Big Sur, that prevents photos importing them. Try putting them in a folder on your desktop first and trying there.

Alternatively if they won't open from the desktop, can you open them in Preview? If you can, then I suggest restarting your mac in safe mode, and then trying.
