Illustrator gpu preview GRAYED OUT

It seems that Illustrator has a bug. GPU preview, which makes Illustrator very fast - keeps getting turned off. This means it automatically switches to CPU preview which is slow in anything you do. This is very serious issue since it can slow you down even 3-4 times. Does anyone have any idea why? I have iMac with 4GB graphics card, But exact same happens on MacBook Pro as well.

Illustrator is not an Apple product it is an Adobe product, my suggestion is to contact the products developer for support or to visit an Illustrator product forum such as https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator/ct-p/ct-illustrator?page=1&sort=latest_replies&filter=all&tabid=discussions
