Final Cut Pro not working

I have updated my 2019 MacBook Pro to macOS Monterey and when I try to open up Final Cut Pro, it does not load and provides me with a blank and the spinning wheel? Is this an operating software issue or is it my laptop?

Thanks

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.0

Try completely uninstalling cmm. You have to follow their instructions for doing it. It is NOT enough to drag it to the trash.

In addition, you also have Chrome - a well known enemy of video and professional applications.

Completely uninstall Chrome and its "keystone" daemons and agents - see https://chromeisbad.com for why and how.

Once you have done that, you will need to drag FCP to the trash, and download a fresh copy from the App Store.

There are specific issues with the software. If yours is completely not working it may be due to a specific set of circumstances. We should not all assume everyone who is having a problem with the software has the same problem, primarily because not every is, and there are specific instances of specific media types, like MPEG-4 with AAC, that are creating more of a problem which are not impacting users of RED or Canon RAW or MXF or XAVC or most QuickTime formats. There may be other problems, and probably more that will be found in the next weeks. Typically bug updates take three to five weeks.

This is happening to lots of people across various Facebook groups and FCP.co forum. Its been a disaster of an update - I think something connected to the WAVEFORMS AND THUMBNAILS not drawing, plus AAC audio files. I have all of my AAC audio now RED in the timeline and waveforms sporadically disappear and then hitting play stops working. Projects / Events / Libraries take forever to load up. When they eventually do - editing is ok, until I try to open up another library / event and then it all happens again. Disaster of a week for me.

Had my last comment removed due to it “being a rant”.

So here is a comprehensive list of issues I’ve experienced whilst using 10.6 on both 2019 MBP 16 Ram i9 and M1 Mac Mini 16 GB Ram

  1. Takes 45 minutes to open a library
  2. Takes 30 minutes to duplicate project
  3. 60 seconds to copy and paste
  4. Freezes when exporting before force quit
  5. Freezes when attempting to rename a project
  6. Can’t scrub smoothly
  7. Can’t drag and drop into timeline
  8. Constant Freezing
  9. Cannot downgrade projects to 10.5 in order to deliver/Share
  10. Cannot send to compressor
  11. 60 Minutes to load 1 Project

That's our experience too. After upgrading an iMac Pro (2017) to Monterey, FCP 10.6 takes about 3-4 minutes to load a FCP library. Super frustrating. Then when I click on an event, it takes about 1-2 minutes to load it. After that, I can use it normally. But any new event in the library takes 1-2 minutes to load the first time. This is a MAJOR loss of productivity and should be fixed soon, I hope. Makes me regret upgrading to Monterey on this machine.
