Final Cut Pro not working

I have updated my 2019 MacBook Pro to macOS Monterey and when I try to open up Final Cut Pro, it does not load and provides me with a blank and the spinning wheel? Is this an operating software issue or is it my laptop?

Thanks

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.0

Try completely uninstalling cmm. You have to follow their instructions for doing it. It is NOT enough to drag it to the trash.

In addition, you also have Chrome - a well known enemy of video and professional applications.

Completely uninstall Chrome and its "keystone" daemons and agents - see https://chromeisbad.com for why and how.

Once you have done that, you will need to drag FCP to the trash, and download a fresh copy from the App Store.

It's still an issue because it's not been fixed. I have no idea what it takes to get it fixed, but considering the size and complexities of the problems that have been reported, I'm sure it's going to take more than a week or two to rewrite a couple of million lines of code. I'm not hysterical about this, however much it ****** me off, because I've been around the editing software rodeo for a long, long time, going back to when it first started.

Coincidentally, I have recently started using DaVinci Resolve alongside Final Cut Pro and find it absolutely mind-blowing.

Once more I have full control of everything, I'm also free to make mistakes (!) and there is no need to make roundtrips to apps like Logic, Compressor and Motion, not that I ever do much of that!🙄

Colour correction and chromakeying are on another level.

If I want good results in a hurry, Final Cut Pro is unbeatable but for pure editing power and choice, DVR is way out on top.

How Apple can continue charging £250 for FCP when DVR is free is somewhat bewildering.

Of course anyone paying Adobe upwards of £20 per month must be out of their minds.

I have grown very used to FCP and that is why I forked out the cash for buying it. But if software is unusable then one must look elsewhere. And DVR sounds like a good alternative. Curious what people make of Premiere Pro. Back in another lifetime when I still used Windows that was my software of choice. I also find it a steep price but that is more principle than any real budget issue. Afraid it is my loss, doubt Apple would resubstitute my investment. Looking forward to leaning a new software, bound to learn new skills in the process.

I appreciate them fixing it, but I wouldn’t really say nearly a month was particularly quick! Having to downgrade to Big Sur to make it work was a massive ball ache and a huge loss of production time. It’s my own fault for automatically upgrading to Monterey without really thinking, but I really shouldn’t have to think about Apple‘s own software compatibility with its own operating systems.

It’s much better but I’m still experiencing slow load times for projects and libraries. Several minutes to open a project.

and also when copying and pasting certain things, in this case it took a few minutes to paste an image. I’m wondering if 6.1 is being considered as the complete fix or if they’re going to improve on this.

I'm not yet convinced that 10.6.1 has fixed the problems. There seem to still be problems on this forum and Facebook FCPX groups. I also saw the guy from Midland Pictures on YouTube still having issues with audio waveforms. He actually seemed to think it had fixed the slow rendering, but it looked painfully slow to me. My M1 Max arrives next Monday, so I'll try it on that before I upgrade my production environment from Big Sur to Monterey. Something tells me this isn't everything fixed. On the release notes for 10.6.1, there's no mention at all about Monterey, and that's the only differing factor on my system as far as I know.
