I am unable to rotate my screen on my Ipad even after having the right options selected in the control center and the switch.

Is it time to visit an apple store I can have the changes done by calling the support/customer care?

If you have an older model of iPad (such a your iPad mini2) with a physical side-switch, this is likely to be toggled “on”. Switch-off the side-switch and screen rotation should be fully restored.

The behaviour of the side-switch is configurable between locking scree rotation - or muting the iPad:

Settings > General > [Use Side Switch To:] - select either Lock Rotation or Mute

For newer models of iPad without the side-switch, running recent versions of iOS/iPadOD - to enable or disable Screen Rotation, you need to access the Control Centre. Swipe downwards from the top-right corner of the screen - then tap the Screen Rotation lock icon:

If screen rotation proves to be problem with some Apps - and not others - you need to be aware that not all Apps are coded to operate in both Portrait and Landscape screen modes. Apps that have a fixed screen orientation will always appear in the orientation determined by the App Developer.

I hope this information and insight proves to be helpful.

If your iPad has frozen, a forced restart may be beneficial:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

Note:  If iPad still doesn’t turn on, or if it gets stuck during start up, see the Apple Support article If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t turn on or is frozen. Or if your iPad isn’t working correctly after you restart it, see the iPad Support website.
