Search won't work on mail and notes with monterey

Just upgraded from Big Sur to Monterey. (12.0.1) Now search function doesn't work on mail and notes. Works on Finder. Spotlight set to include everything. On both my 2017 18,3 iMac and my M1 macbook pro.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13

I had a similar issue (though unlike others who posted on this topic, I was able to search in Notes). When I searched in Mail, after upgrading to Monterey, I got no results.

I found a solution that worked for me, and it is in this post:

I went through the first set of steps, which did not fix it. Then I did the second set (deleting the Mail.app indices - just as the instructions state) though mine were in V9 (for Monterey I suppose) and rebooted. My 78K messages took 11 minutes to load back in, and after a few minutes, Search appears to be working now and I hope this helps you or others.

Hi all. Well I hate to disappoint everyone, but I, too, had - and still have - the Mail search issue with Monterey on my iMac - searching in Mail would return nothing, even if was a searching for a message that was literally in front of me on the screen. Works fine when I log in to iCloud, but that is not what I do every day nor should I have to. I "rebuilt" my Mail and then everything was fine. Could search for anything and correct results popped right up. Well, that was short-lived and the same searching problem is back. Something is definitely wrong and I have never had this issue with any previous Mac OS. Help?
