Black screen on AppleTV app with sound with second monitor on MacBook

Hi, I have a Mackbookpro 13' on BigSur, and I use it with two secondary screens. All works fine, but I cannot use the Apple TV app since I can only see a black screen when I launch it, even if the movie goes on and I can hear the sound. When I do not use the secondary screens, the Apple TV works fine instead. I can see movies on Netflix or Prime VIdeo, but not on Apple TV when the secondary screens are connected to my MacBook. How can I fix this? I did not have the same problem with my old MacBook pro with Catalina. Thanks.

This is not an HP issue. It's Apple's decision to try to "help" with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection). This article has a few tips but it's frustrating that Apple continues to provide no solution.

Hello carlotta79! Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

We understand that when watching a video from the Apple TV app while two monitors are connected, the video displays a black screen, and the video doesn’t play on any of the screens. We'd like to look into this with you to see how we can help.

If you disconnect both external monitors, then connect just one to your Mac, does the video play? Then, disconnect that screen, and connect the other, does the video still play?

If the video plays with one screen connected but not the other, contact the manufacturer of the monitor that’s having the issue. It’s possible that there may need to be a firmware update.

If both monitors don’t play, are they from the same manufacturer? If so, contact the manufacturer. Even if they’re from different manufacturers, it’s possible that they both may need to be updated.

If after all this, the issue still persists, connect with Apple Support to look into this further: Get Support

Make it a great day!

Thank you for the reply. It seems a problem with both screens. I tried them separately as you suggested and they both don't work. When I open the Apple TV it works fine, if none of the screens are connected to the MacBook. Unfortunately, I cannot update the firmware of the screens as they are HP monitors which are only compatible with mac, but they have drivers only for windows. The fact is that before the upgrade to BigSur all worked well with my HP monitors... :(
