Iphone 13 Promax Safari PDF Lag

HI, I recently upgraded to the Iphone 13 Promax. While browing PDF files in safari, scrolling of PDF lag and freezes before resuming. I have no such issues with Iphone 11 pro max with the same OS.

Safari address bar also sometimes goes missing and i have to close and reopen safari for the address bar to reappear.

I’m 99.99% sure it’s the variable refresh rate of the screen that’s the problem here. As a workaround, I’ve worked out you can go to Settings - Accessibility - Motion and turn the Limit Frame Rate setting on. This will stop the issue. Pretty bad though that you need to limit the frame rate.

I have called Apple back, given them all the details (including a video of the issue and system diagnostics from the phone) to a senior technician who is raising this with the engineering team and will let me know what they say.

However the workaround I mentioned above does work.

Please please please fix the PDF issue. I spend majority of my time scrolling scientific research papers and documents. Got the iPhone 13 pro max for the high performance and smooth almost buttery experience but this is anything but smooth. I am potentially considering returning this very expensive device. Come on guys, this one should be a no brainer! It is soooo important for some people!

cheers!

Why do I have to worry about refresh rates and PDF files? I am the end user. I don’t really care for refresh rates and how PDFs work. I want to read a PDF in a smooth way similar to what I can achieve with the cheapest/crapiest smartphone.

You can probably notice the psychological game at play here. It seems that Apple is reluctant to put resources to fix this error cause it will probably cost money. It will probably just carry along like that and those that complained about the issue will get sick of incremental emails sent to their inboxes and at some point unsubscribe from this feed, thereby giving up.

And the problem, though still relevant and apparent, will be forgotten about.

I think that is what Apple is aiming for *if and only if they are not planning to do a fix.
