Final Cut Pro version 10.6 extremely slow!!!

I installed the 10.6 FCPX update on my 27" iMac (late 2015) and my editing has been extremely slow ever since. If I just add one transition between two clips, I have to wait a minute or two (with the rotating beachball) before I can do anything else.

I also tried it on my MacBook Pro (16" 2019) and it acts the same way. Very annoying and counter productive.

I also just updated both machines with the macOS Monterey version 12.0.1 iOS, however I was having the problems before I did that.

Is anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions?

Hi,

I've forgotten this, you're right. Sorry. Export settings are the same as the project: ProRes + uncomp. audio 48 KHz.

And I've forgotten some other element on the timeline: English subtitles (made on the "Basic Titel" template with Myriad Semibold font with some blurred outline). They were two versions of the export: With and without subtitles. Without subtitles the export took app. 1,5 hour. And with the subtitles 2,5 hour. But, again, I've made many movies with such subtitles before and there was no such difference. (A frame with subtitle is attached.)

About the noise reduction: Yes, rendering of this effect takes some time. But It was only on a few clips in a 1h timeline. This cannot be the cause of the huge render time. It could maybe affect it some % but this is all.

Or maybe I cannot understand why you are focusing on it..?

Thanks, regards.

Well they haven't sorted it, new MacBook Pro as fasts you can get and Final Cut is absolutely useless, its scrambles clips, is so as **** so why did Im pay £4200 for a computer system that doesn't work

Sort it out Apple, your new version MacOS Monterery is utterly hopeless as I can't sort out Final Cut and am probably going to bin it and not recommend it

https://etrecheck.com It was written by a respected Apple Support Community member here to report the relevant information of your Mac to others user here so we can help you diagnose your issue. Search here and you'll see many posting their Etrecheck report. Typical things it can help identify are disk space issues, old, incompatible software that's been migrated from a previous Mac, whether Chrome has been installed (it can break the ProApps), if a "cleaner" application has been used, etc.

CleanMyMac has most likely damaged your system. Chrome is consuming resources even when it’s not running. You have multiple third party plugins that probably need to update, which have crashed often, Color Finale to start and others.

i would recommend you do a clean wipe off the system and during OS installation migrate only the users. Reinstall your applications. Do NOT install CleanMyMac or Chrome. Run FCP without plugins installed to see how it performs. Installed updated versions of the plugins.
