Can the AirPods and Max play in lossless seeing they use Airplay2?

From the article:

Can I listen to lossless audio using AirPods, AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, or AirPods (3rd generation)?

AirPods, AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, AirPods (3rd generation), and Beats wireless headphones use Apple’s AAC Bluetooth Codec to ensure excellent audio quality. Bluetooth connections don’t support lossless audio.

If it doesn't say that it is lossless then it probably isn't, although I'm not certain that these new labels display consistently. The default quality for Apple Music is 256K AAC. CD quality is what might otherwise be called lossless, 16-bit samples at 44.1kHz with no (or lossless) compression. In other words if there is no extra label then you're likely getting 256K AAC if streaming from Apple Music, or whatever quality is stored in your library, downsampled if needs be to go over Bluetooth.
