Songs View Jumping to Random Spots After Action

Since the update to Monterey I've been experiencing some weird behavior when adding songs to a playlist (or editing info of a song/album). It seems as soon as Apple Music is done making changes, it just randomly decides to jump to a different spot in my current view.

Example: In the Library - Songs view, I went to an album by the artist "Dave". I selected the 12 songs from the album, two-finger click, Add to Last Playlist, and the Songs view jumps down to Jeezy. Do the same thing for a Turnstile album and it jumps down to Various Artists.

All of my playlists are in the "Songs" view (because the default Playlist view is absolutely worthless), so I cannot say whether this happens in other views.

Another, slightly less annoying bug, is that when using the keyboard to jump to the artist you want (in the example above typing "Dave") the first matching song is highlighted at the bottom of the view, instead of the top as it's been since... forever.

Am I the only experiencing/annoyed by these two bugs?

2 issues will rectify itself if you turn off 'Sync Library' in Music > Preferences > General

  1. No more auto jumping in Songs playlist after any editing action
  2. The Now Playing menu bar will behave as expected; as in it will show the playing time and remaining time & the scrubber will show accordingly where you are in the music track

As soon as you turn it back on, these 2 issues return.

All of my Apple Music columns jump to the top or bottom of the list instead of the selected category. Example if I am trying to categorize by year, it will jump to 2021(the top) or no year (the bottom).

Very frustrating. Also a little wonky when trying to rate or love songs, jumps around like a super sensitive mouse pad. Also still dealing with the occasionally cut off song at 15 seconds. If it is not one thing, its the other.

After being on the phone with Apple support, I was told to either re-install the OS with the hope that any missing/corrupt files for the music app correct the issue, or wait until the next update for the OS. Mind you, the tech didn't know if the issue would be addressed in that update as it is very "unique".

Looks like we will have to deal with it for a while.

You're limited to 11,000 songs per playlist on Spotify. And you can't add music that isn't available there, or music you made to your Spotify playlists. I mean, you can, but you have to be playing Spotify from the computer the songs are on. Unlike Apple Music where you can put those songs on your cloud, and play them from anything linked to your cloud. I listen to Apple Music on my Macbook, iPod, and Apple TV pucks.

To add to my post, I thought it may have to do with my importing a 10 year old .ITL file so created a guest login on Monterey and imported tracks fresh and the same problem; even when just moving a track within a small list it jumps.

I have been using iTunes since inception and this is the worst bug I have encountered. I have an appointment with a genius bar tomorrow and will bring up the matter.

Yep - I'm getting that one as well. So annoying.

I also HATE that if you sort by "Album by Artist/Year" like I do, I does not save that sort view but instead defaults to sorting by "Album" should you close the app and re-open it. I don't think this is specific to Monterey, though.

This has seriously been one of the buggiest updates I can remember. I also hit the 100K song limit (all cloud music - boggles my mind why there is a limit of any kind on cloud music) so it's been a fun couple of months with Apple Music!
