I have a 2 display setup. I move some Safari windows to one screen. After waking up from sleep, all windows are on one screen and the second is empty. This is on an M1 mini.
Not sure if Apple even considers this a "bug". I'm thinking the only shot we have of getting any kind of resolution is reporting it as such.

both fail for me
2 external monitors (Thunderbolt -> DP, HDMI -> DVI), MacBook Pro 16 M1 Pro, Monterey 12.2. The issue still persists. Extremely annoying.

has anyone seen any sort of response from the OS developers? i'm not comfortable with my "workaround".
We are already on 12.2.1 and no solution so far. It's really annoying!

I have the same problem, but it seems like if I wake up the Mac, and wait for every monitor to light up before I write the password, then the windows stays in place!😄
i have an iMac and it's always plugged in (duh) so it fails here too.
Also - there is an alternative to 'Hide Others' in the Finder menu
Show Desktop.app - single click in the menu bar - been using it for years
the best solution so far is the hide others. it works most of the time.
12.3 is out and nothing has changed.
I've lost hope in having this fixed. Fingers crossed for macOS 13 (which means this problem will stick around for another 7 months at best).
Yup, same! So excited to get the new MBP 16" and then.... annoyance! Kinda thinking I need to build my own Windows PC
And I was running the same displays on my Mac Pro 6,1 with 12.3.1 and did not have the problem.
i don't know if you saw the response about finder and hiding all before you sleep. it's really helpful
