iphone 13 pro max cracked screen

Got my phone (iphone13 pro max) 2 weeks ago today. Tonight I noticed what appeared to be an eyelash on the screen when it didn't move I lifted the corner of my screen protector thinking it was under it. As I did this a crack began to spread through screen at the top. This phone has been in an otter box defender case and has a screen protector and camera protector since arriving in the mail from my service provider. It has never been dropped or dinged. I just upgraded from the iPhone 6s, if this tells you how careful I am with my phones to ensure making them last me. My phone states I still have 48 days to add the apple care protection but I really feel like this is a defect of the phone and being it is only 2weeks old my phone should be replaced at no cost to me at all. Has any one else experienced this with the iPhone 13 pro max and if so how did apple handle the issue? After this I am really considering switching to Samsung. These are too $$$$ pricey $$$$ to be experiencing this kind of headache.

All anyone can advise you to do is to schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and show them the phone. Apple won't let you add an AppleCare+ plan to a phone with a cracked screen. If Apple determines the phone has a manufacturing defect (somewhat unlikely), they'll replace the screen. If they determine the phone does not have a defect, you'll have to pay for a screen replacement. Don't shoot the messenger. This is a user to user only forum. You'll have to discuss this with Apple directly.

It is very easy for someone who knows what they are looking for to determine what cracks on glass are caused by and it is highly unusual for them to occur from internal forces. Most of the hairlines cracks I have seen were caused by stressing the screen by either carrying in the back pocket and sitting on it (especially if it is tight pants) and by putting it in a case, particularly an Otterbox but also on others. Your choice not to use your damage coverage.

What flaw are you referring to and how was Apple called out on it.

I've googled unexplained cracks too and a very large percentage of them do involve OtterBox cases which are extremely tight fitting and if you do not follow the instructions perfectly you will stress the screen and cause cracks. This is not a fault of the screen.

Plus the display unit has nothing to do with Face ID, if a third party screen is installed and the repair shop knows what they are doing they will not disconnect the True Depth camera leaving Face ID in working order. You will get messages about it not being an Apple screen and won't have True Tone anymore.

If the screen somehow does crack from the inside out that is considered a manufacturing defect and Apple will replace it under the warranty. If the damage is external, either from a blow or stressing it, then it is user damage and not covered by the standard warranty.

The same situation, I have had my iPhone 13 Pro since the new 2022 year (less then 3 weeks) I handled it very carefully and it certainly did not fall or hit. Now I decided to wipe the screen when I rebooted my phone and on the black screen it became visible the thinnest but huge crack, it's long, from edge to edge and clumsy. This is obviously some kind of marriage of the new phone, but it can hardly be proved? No other damage, it's brand new! I think it's a production bug :(

My one month old iPhone 13 max in a case. Never dropped. Seeing a fine hairline across bottom of screen. Not impact. Just looks like a hair under then protective sheet we applied. Pretty sure it is a factory defect. Not sure what to do now. Feel like I spent a lot for something that isn't very good quality and am pretty bummed out. QA issues at some plant?

My 5 months old iPhone 13 fell from a height of about 1 meter on my office floor. It was wearing the official apple case. The screen broke, and every day after that, it keeps breaking.

I am an extremely careful iPhone (and iPod before that) user since the 2000s, and I NEVER had a screen break despite the occasional drop, just like it happens to everyone I know.

I invested more money into a new iPhone expecting the quality to be there, but it is simply not.

Now Apple won't hear nor care about my case and expects me to pay more than 300€ to repair it - almost half the price of the entire phone.

I am EXTREMELY disappointed and would rather buy from any other manufacturer at this point than pay this money for the repair.

I bought my phone in March 2022 and had the same issue. I took the phone back to the store, with an appointment, I think two days later. The person at the appointment said there was nothing he could do and asked did I setup the phone myself, which I felt was saying I did something. he said I could use my AppleCare to replace if I wanted to. NOPE not using it for a new phone for something I did not cause. My first iPhone and I’m very disappointed. I see it everyday and it is disappointing.
