I could not get my Magic Mouse to scroll up or down

Hello!

I came in to the apple community for the first time today, because I could not get my magic mouse that I've only had for about 4 months to scroll up or down and then when I got on the community page, it said to clean the roller eye. I also checked all the boxes in system preferences on my 2020 Macbook Pro. I got nothing, no double clicking, no swiping to other pages. The community did not have a lot on what to do when this happens. I wanted to put this out there, and it seems so easy, but when your electronics don't work properly, especially when you have something important to do for work or school--YOU PANIC!! I did!.......So, I started from the bottom and did the easiest, most basic thing I could think of. I turned it off and on, and then I plugged it into a power source that was not the computer, it was a surge protector with a usb slot to plug in. Guess what.......When I turned it back on, everything worked. I was literally thinking I would have to uninstall and install and I'm not extremely electronically inclined. I just wanted to offer this little "hack" I found worked for me!
