Having performed the update to iPadOS15, a forced restart is recommended. Doing so will likely clear any “stuck” or background processes that are causing excessive battery utilisation:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

Be aware that, post update, your battery utilisation will be higher than normal for a few days - whilst system housekeeping tasks, such as re-indexing, are running. Normal battery behaviour should return within a day or two.

Are you saying buying a new cord solved your charging problem?

If yes, then there was a problem with your old cord.

If no, then make an appointment at the nearest Apple location to have your

iPad, cords and charging block evaluated for free.

Once the diagnostics are complete, the staff will explain your options.

I have no idea, but I hope a lot of these issues we’re encountering get resolved. My iPad battery is inconsistent. One day it’s fine, the next it appears to drain faster. I turned off quite a few background things in my settings. I think it’s conserving a little better, but TBH, I can’t confirm it’s consistency. I wish I had some input from Apple Tech people to get more info on what they’re doing or if they’re actually working on fixing these things.
