Why is mt battery draining so fast after update?
Having performed the update to iPadOS15, a forced restart is recommended. Doing so will likely clear any “stuck” or background processes that are causing excessive battery utilisation:
Be aware that, post update, your battery utilisation will be higher than normal for a few days - whilst system housekeeping tasks, such as re-indexing, are running. Normal battery behaviour should return within a day or two.

Are you saying buying a new cord solved your charging problem?
If yes, then there was a problem with your old cord.
If no, then make an appointment at the nearest Apple location to have your
iPad, cords and charging block evaluated for free.
Once the diagnostics are complete, the staff will explain your options.

That's my question too, I have forced restart and that doesn't work! Why? I have just bought my 1st Iphone 12 and am thinking about the IWatch 7 and IMac laptop but if the updates cause these problems, I may have to rethink about it.
Same here. I had no problems before the update. My battery always held a great charge. I did the update yesterday, today my battery drained 35% in 3 hours. Without being on a charger, it used to drain maybe 5% in 3 hours. I even deleted a bunch of apps to see if that would help.
I did the same. Also turned off location. Helped a little. Still draining battery over twice as fast as before the update. Apple did a full diagnostic and found no issues with my iPad or it’s battery. Don’t know what to do next.
Same here. I just searched Google, and found this possible fix:
“If you want to fix the battery drain issue after updating to iOS 15, you should consider disabling Background App Refresh. To do that, head over to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and then tap on Off.”
I also changed my charging cord. Seems to be holding much better.
I have no idea, but I hope a lot of these issues we’re encountering get resolved. My iPad battery is inconsistent. One day it’s fine, the next it appears to drain faster. I turned off quite a few background things in my settings. I think it’s conserving a little better, but TBH, I can’t confirm it’s consistency. I wish I had some input from Apple Tech people to get more info on what they’re doing or if they’re actually working on fixing these things.
I updated my IPad, iPhone 11, and Apple Watch, and the only issues I’m running across (so far) are on my iPad.
I have tried the force restart many times and still battery draining with a couple hours or sooner. Had to buy a 10ft charging cord to be able to use Ipad 6th generation.
My started with the last update so don’t know why but was fine up until then.
Is there going to be a fixed from Apple for this problem or is this a way to force us to buy a new IPAD? Just wondering? Can't take IPAD anywhere with out a charging unit or cord!
I’ve noticed an inconsistency in the battery charge since I updated (on Nov. 15th). It’s gotten better, but still has its moments.
