11 pro missing maximizing compatibility

iphone 11 pro after upgrading to OS 15.x hospot is no longer allowing my old IPod to connect to it!! It looks like in IPhone 12 and later models, there is an option to enable the maximize compatibility, not present on the host pot options in my phone. How to fix the problem?

Hello Jfvmsa,

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities! We understand you don't see the maximize compatibility option on your iPhone 11. We're happy to assist you with this.

Check out the steps in this article to assist with this issue:

If Personal Hotspot is not working on your iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular)

If the option is still missing, contact your wireless carrier since the personal hotspot is created by them.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities, and have a great day!

Humm, I don’t get it! I don’t have problem with the hostpost for newer devices connecting to it, so I am not sure what the cell provider has to do with the IPhone OS 15.2 options displayed, I thought those options were controlled by the Apple software. Do you really understand my issue? I would be glad to explain further!!

Again, it looks on IPhone 12 the additional option (maximize compatibility) under hostpost is there, where in IPhone 11 is not.

Before the OS 15.x update to my phone my old IPod device was able to connect to it!! With the update is not longer possible? What does the OS 15.x introduced that broke the code?

Hi, Thank you for replying.

The hostpot works fine allowing many devices to connect to; however, my old IPod that used to connect to it is not linger connecting! In my old IPod the hostpot can be seen and when I enter the correct password, the same as always, it says the password is invalid!! And started to happen after the IPhone upgraded to OS15.x

Let me know what kind of information I can provide you for better guidance!

Than you

P.S I have reset the network connections as mentioned but the issue continues.

Hi Jfvmsa,

Thanks for the update. We understand your concern is that the iPhone 11 isn't showing the setting "Maximize Compatibility." As the article previously provided states, "If you're using an iPhone 12 model or later, turn on Maximize Compatibility." iPhone 12 and newer automatically uses Personal Hotspot over 5GHz Wi-Fi. When "Maximize Compatibility" is enabled, it will revert the device to using Personal Hotspot over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi instead. Your iPhone 11, as well as previous models of iPhone, are already using Personal Hotspot over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.

Could you tell us more about what's happening exactly when you try to connect the iPod to your iPhone 11? If you encounter an error, what does it say? Did you have a chance to follow all of the steps in the previously provided support article?

Take care.
