Since updating to 12.0.1 Monterey my 2017 27” Retina iMac no longer shows images in Icon view for all image file formats, pdf, and video files. psd and rtf files appear fine. After a restart several image files acquired an image in Icon view, but the majority have not.
Is anyone else experiencing this? I need a fix because I switch into Icon view when I sort images, pdfs and videos.

So i found this elsewhere and it worked for me:
"Open up Activity Monitor, search for a process called "com.apple.quicklook.ThumbnailsAgent," force quit that process, restart Finder"
Not sure if it's a permanent fix, but it's not onerous to do when necessary until Apple fix it.
macOS Monterey is still at 12.0.1, and the problem persists.
With my Mac it affects just the file icons create with all and any applications. The application icons are correct.
Just adding my voice to this chorus. This problem is baffling and makes me regret upgrading.
Me too it’s really irritating! A senior support technician at Apple was unable to resolve and I only upgraded at the advise of Apple support when discussing storage. Still no resolution.
I may start restarting once a day just for this reason. Ugh.

This is only a temporary fix. Files created or added after this do not display preview images.
Absolutely frustrating to not see images on icons in Monterey!!! Please fix this ASAP!!! How aggravating!

Contrary to others' experience reported earlier, image previews are appearing for newly added/saved images. Keeping fingers crossed.
This seems to have solved my issue. I just rebooted as well (which didn't fix the issue in the paste) but EdMenno's suggestion has solved my issue for the time being.
This is so baffling because it was a seemingly permanent fix for some of us, but it's only temporary for others. Apple really needs to fix this.
When has Apple ever taken any notice of its users?
This works temporarily, but after a few hours the problem returns.
This worked for me for jpgs pngs and pdfs, but not eps. Better than nothing though!
