Good day! Recently updated my macbook air to macOS Monterey. And now there was a problem downloading the iTunes app to my device (since it was not installed earlier). How can this problem be solved? Thank you in advance.

For the newest versions of macOS, namely Catalina, Big Sur, and Monterey, there is not a version of iTunes. Use the Music and related apps instead. See information in here:

You don’t need to install iTunes…use the Music app. To back up your iphone: Open the music app on you Mac/plug in your iphone/authorize your computer at the top File Menu/double click the “Locations” your phone/ click Sync Settings(top right corner)/now you can Sync or back up your iphone.

since Catalina, you will find your USB attached devices (iPhone, iPad, etc.) in finder where you are being offered the same functions as in iTunes for updates, backup/restore and music library updates

It really is very good and make iTunes run seamlessly on my old late 2015 iMac in Monterey. I remade the iTunes Library from the one that Apple makes for Music, Videos and the like when you install Monterey. Then pointed the Monterey apps to the new iTunes library I had made before deleting the one Monterey made.
One more opinion , itunes it won’t be installed because now you can get everything in podcast music and tv app there isn’t way if you have told that people can but the true isn’t possible
itunes is not longer compatible with catalina Big Sur and Monterey apple separate it with Apple Music podcast and Apple TV apps
I had the same problem, used Retroactive to re-install iTunes now it's running, my music from the external drive is all there, playlists etc... tbh I don't really use iTunes much anymore but I need my music library with almost 400GB of music for work occasionally and I can't afford to lose it and its playlists.
I used Retroactive to install iTunes 12.9.5.5 onto Monterey. I had zero problems and it makes it so much easier to load/unload my old iPods with BBC radio shows (via Get iPlayer Automator) every day. It is so much easier than using the Music App which is clunky, obstinate and a huge move backwards in user friendliness.
@pisces2 have you tried Retroactive? It includes several versions of iTunes (to be used depending on the Mac processor)
once your iPhone is connected to your Mac, you select in finder your device and you will find all functions to backup and to synchronise
I don't think it will install on Monterey. I know the Mac Apple TV App is totally useless when it comes to actually organizing your media. I would get a cheap Windows machine with iTunes and an external drive and use it if you like iTunes. I do. I know, for everything Mac seems to be better. but movies tv shows and home videos is a Pain in the @#$ in the Apple TV App. Sorry, I wish they would update it or something.

Correct. iTunes is incompatible with Monterey. Apple dropped iTunes support in Catalina.
