Compressor error: System Error = -9074 {Unknown Error: -9074}

After updating to Monterey last week, one of our iMac Pros gives us this error when sending a job from Final Cut to Compressor:

We have trashed the Compressor prefs in Library/App Support, reinstalled Compressor and even reinstalled the OS, still same issue. We also granted full disk access to Compressor in System Prefs/Security, still same issue. Any help appreciated.

Hello, today I found a workaround, till the bug gets fixed by Apple. And I can't tell if this will work in all cases.

After sending the batch to Compressor and starting it up, after some time the batch failed. Then I went in the Completed section and clicked on the reload icon. After starting the batch again, the encoding process than went fine.

I wonder if the common denominator is letting something render in Final Cut, then sending it to Compressor? I'm currently batch exporting 100s of clips to transcode the audio to PCM and they're processing straight from a drive, not from Final Cut, and have no issues. The video is just passing through though.

Has anyone in this thread made contact with Apple to see if they are working on this issue?

I was having the same issue with FCP X 10.6.1 on Monterey 12.0.1, could not export HLG Rec 2020 content with Compressor 4.6, resulted in a Failed: System Error = -9074 {Unknown error: -9074} after around 4 minutes. Just updated my MacBook Pro to Monterey 12.1 and now it seems to export again fine to 4K HEVC 10-bit. So updating to 12.1 resolves the issue for me.

The situation has not changed since the last release. Again, first time sending a project to Compressor, it works properly. Sending exactly the same (except for the title languages), it systematically crashes. Well, it takse about 2 minutes to crash, and the blue progress bar does not move before crashing.

I'm pretty sure it's a kind of incompatibility between Compressor and Monterey (12.0.1 or 12.1)

For what it's worth, this issue appears to have been resolved with Monterey 12.1 for me. I haven't done a full export but I was able to submit a batch job of 5 projects from Final Cut Pro to Compressor and after hitting Start Batch, they all immediately started compressing. In the past, it would hold for 2-5 minutes and then likely fail out with the aforementioned error.

Couple of things - I'm running a custom Mac Pro 2013 with 10 core processor, so I can export 5 things at once in this configuration. I should note that upon my first attempt at updating to Monterey 12.1, it looked like it had succeeded but upon checking System Preferences, the update was still available. I ran it a second time and then did my test. So if you're still having issues, make sure the update actually ran.

I am also having this issue with my 2019 iMac. However, when I run the same project on my M1 iMac, it works flawlessly. I do all my projects on external drives so that I can take things home when necessary and routinely go between different macs. They are all on the same OS, Monterey12.1, Compressor 4.6, and FCP 10.6.1. I'm noticing that all the Macs on here are intel macs, so possibly this is an issue with coding for intel processors??? Can anyone else confirm?

I'm always doing batch work and am currently in the process of putting some up to date info on a few hundred videos for a subscription service on Vimeo and this is a big set back for me. I often compress 5-15 videos at a time without issue. I did notice on the intel iMac that when I dropped a batch in and started it, one video would actually process while the others failed. When I put the rest back in and ran it again, one video would process and the others would fail.

I also sent a short 16 second clip through with a title on top and end and it went through fine. I'm including a link to one of the videos I am having to update for a ministry that is putting their stuff on OTT apps. This is from a SSD drive, although most of the work I do is from HDD. I used a custom preset and an Apple devices preset and both failed.
