I cannot upload files with Safari after macOS 12.0.1 update

I updated this morning and I'm now on Monterey Version 12.0.1on my MacBook Air 2020. Since then I've noticed I can't attach/upload images online. For example I wanted to share an image in a Reddit forum that accepted them and then onto a post I was creating on my Patreon page. I have tried activating the Develop window in Safari and ticking "Disable Local File Restrictions" but this hasn't changed anything.

Any advice would be greatly received!

Hi friends, don’t know if this will help. One of my roommates had this issue and I maybe stumbled upon a quicker workaround but not a fix by any means. His issue was when he went to upload the finder window with documents would come up but he couldn’t click any of the documents.

For some reason when I resize the window of the finder all of a sudden you can click the documents and also upload.

hope it helps some of you out there

I've been having the same trouble. On a website, Chrome or Edge won't trigger the upload/attach dialog when clicking a button on a website, but drag-and-drop will usually work on sites that allow that method. Clicking on the Download button on sites also does nothing. The buttons don't even highlight or anything to show they've been clicked.

However, it seems there IS an upload/download process that has been initially triggered, but it goes nowhere. Because if I click on download buttons in Edge or Chrome, they do nothing at all. But if I then close the app, I get a warning telling me that a download is still in progress.  I confirmed that there are not any partially completed or in-progress downloads in my Downloads folder. But it knows the process was attempted. This seems like a system-level problem. This is also identical to how the Save to PDF error fails: clicking on the button to do so shows absolutely NO visible response.

Also, printing to PDF from ANYWHERE in MacOS, (Monterey 12.0.1 on 2020 M1 Mac Mini), doesn't work. Workaround is sometimes available to Open PDF in Preview, and then Save it there.

Also, also, printing from Chrome is currently borked. Pages come out formatted a bit wonky. Printing from other browsers is usually better. Not sure if this is related.

Like others, I also found using Safari a useful workaround, but over time when I was up- and downloading and printing a whole bunch of documents, it stopped working too. So I switched to Firefox, and it too worked only for a while, and the same again with Edge. Updating and restarting Chrome for me fixed it a couple weeks ago, but then the problem came back.

And to be clear, updating Chrome fixed both the uploading problem AND the PDF/Printing problems. But all only temporarily. So it seems clear they're all related.

I'm going to try the solution mentioned of updating permissions for all 4 browsers and see how far that gets me. But given the systemwide related problems, it seems like an Apple problem to me, maybe regarding the M1 chips, or maybe Monterey.

UPDATE: problem persists even after updating OS to 12.2, updating Chrome to 97.0.4692.99, and updating all browsers' permissions as noted above, and doing a full system restart.

Chrome, will NOT download, upload, or print to PDF

Edge, will NOT download, upload, or print to PDF*

Safari, WILL download and upload, but will NOT print to PDF

Firefox, WILL upload and download, will NOT print to PDF

Preview, WILL print to PDF.

As before, the features above that ARE working, I would expect to eventually begin not working, based on prior experience.

I moved to the MacAir a month back and been facing the similar issue. I have been restarting and using every time this happens and its really frustrating.

Temporary Solution:

For the time being for those who are still facing this issue, don't waste your time restarting the Mac. You can just quit the window and reopen, it solves the issue temporarily. (Command + Q)

Hope we can find a system solution for this ASAP.

@Applesupportcommunity please look into this matter. It is thoroughly disappointing that it's been almost 5 months since this issue has been raised and no measures have been taken to solve this.

I’m having the same issue and happening randomly. Sometimes I can upload but most of the time I cannot totally upload any files to Youtube or Google Drive.

It happens that I have 2 routers (1 from my ISP and other one I persnally bought)

I’m able to make it work if I connected to my personal router.

I’m not sure why if I’m connected to the router from my ISP, sometimes I cannot upload. Possible there’s some security measure being checked by MacOS for this to happen

This exact thing happened to me and its INSANELY annoying. I update my blog on weebly daily and now I cannot add photos to my posts or add photos to a post on twitter. When I write my tweet and then click the photo icon to upload an image, the box doesn't pop up to select image. It happens on Chrome-Brave and Safari and on twitter, weebly, facebook...

IT IS DRIVING ME ABSOLUTELY INSANE because I need this for work every single day..... HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
