I cannot upload files with Safari after macOS 12.0.1 update

Same issue here! Totally annoying!

I have to restart it every time it happens.

It doesn't help just closing the windows.

I'm totally dissatisfied and it's been only a week I bought this Mac.

@Apple, what's your solution???

I think it's a Mac Wi-Fi communication compatibility issue. I have an old Intel Mac without any issues. The new M1 Pro probably uses a new Wi-Fi chip, so I have compatibility issues with my Broadcom Wifi router. I've tried a complete system reinstall but it doesn't solve it. After connecting the M1 Pro to the old Airport Extreme, this upload interruption problem never occurred. So I believe it's a compatibility issue and maybe Apple should recall Macs with Wifi compatibility issues.

I have the same issue and it's August 2022, have updated my MacBook Pro and unable to upload files/pictures to third party websites just receive the below message every time. I tried uploading using Chrome which worked the time I tried. Can't use Safari though and should be able to!

Same here. It occurs in every 2-3 days on Chrome and Slack.

I can't upload images (browse files folder doesn't appear). I have to restart browser and Slack. Slack is not a big problem but on Chrome I have to close and reload around 15-20 tabs, some of them with not completed tasks. It's very frustrating

UPDATE: problem persists even after updating OS to 12.2, updating Chrome to 97.0.4692.99, and updating all browsers' permissions as noted above, and doing a full system restart.

Chrome, will NOT download, upload, or print to PDF

Edge, will NOT download, upload, or print to PDF*

Safari, WILL download and upload, but will NOT print to PDF

Firefox, WILL upload and download, will NOT print to PDF

Preview, WILL print to PDF.

As before, the features above that ARE working, I would expect to eventually begin not working, based on prior experience.

Clicking on the Download button on sites also does nothing. The buttons don't even highlight or anything to show they've been clicked. However, it seems there IS an upload/download process that has been initially triggered, but it goes nowhere. Because if I click on download buttons in Edge or Chrome, they do nothing at all. But if I then close the app, I get a warning telling me that a download is still in progress. I confirmed that there are not any partially completed or in-progress downloads in my Downloads folder. But it knows the process was attempted. This seems like a system-level problem. This is also identical to how the Save to PDF error fails: clicking on the button to do so shows absolutely NO visible response.

Still happening to me... INSANELY annoying since I work as a food blogger and every single day I am supposed to upload photos to my blog but I have to keep restarting my computer or browser multiple times a day

CAN SOMEONE FROM APPLE COMMENT?

I also cannot upload photos to Linkedin etc. I can not attach files in google chrome. Nor can I download with a simple arrow down click. I have to "print"/open as PDF then save as from there. It is maddening.

I've been having the same issue for a couple of months now. It's INSANELY annoying. I have to restart my laptop several times a day. The worst part is that I never know when it's going to stop working again. It seems like there's no specific trigger after which the laptop stops uploading files, both to a browser and local apps like Camtasia.

The Apple team, please help. This is driving me nuts.

I cannot even add a photo to a google review when I click ADD PHOTOS it does not open any box to be able to select them. I cannot upload to my food blog on Weebly either.

Hello, Have you been able to solve this problem yet? I upgraded to Monterey 12.2.1 and I can no longer upload photos to email, Facebook, blog, etc. I'm following this conversation and I see others have the same issues but I don't see a solution from apple. Can you please post the solution or workaround?

Ditto, same issue. Started a couple of days ago for me and it's disrupting some of my work because I can't always drag-and-drop. So it seems the consensus is that this is a Mac issue that support needs to fix?

That support article is not helpful, as Safari does not appear in the list of apps you can select to allow access to files and folders. Looks like this new "functionality" could be some security measure that's gone awry. This change is super-annoying. It negatively impacts my productivity.

Macbook Air M1 here with newly updated Monterrey. Same nightmare issue. If someone has a solution for this, please be our Hero. @Apple isn't doing much to help us. This issue is extremely frustrating and interferes with productivity on a daily basis.

Hmmm,... Over eight months have not been enough time for Apple to fix this issue a statement, or at the very least throw out a few tidbits of info on what's being done. I guess this is the only real solution:

My costly, upgraded, new MacBook with the fancy M1 Max chip with 10-core CPU, 32-core GPU, and 16-core Neural Engine sits idle while a 2018 Toshiba laptop running Windows uploads images to all the places it cannot.

Sure, I'll miss restarting my MacBook 4-5 times a day to upload images, but the lure of the awkward and tedious Windows environment has charmed me for one highly critical reason; IT WORKS.
