Apple care

Has this happened to you?

So I bought the new M1 MBP and needed to cancel the Apple Care on my previous 16-inch MBP. I know the refund is prorated so I only expected to get a few dollars back as the Applecare on the previous MBP didn't expire until 2023. Low and behold, I was told I'd get nothing back because I had had a screen repair two months after I bought the laptop. And even though I'd paid the $99 for the repair as required by AppleCare, I still wasn't entitled to any refund because the repair ate that up.

So here's my question. I ended up paying for the screen repair even though I had insurance against paying for the screen repair, so what was the point of my having Apple Care?

I guess the point is you paid $99 for accidental damage w/ AppleCare+, not $600 out of pocket.

So you used the service.

The AppleCare+ does transfer to a new owner if you decide to sell the old MBP—AppleCare stays with the serial number. This might of been a better option if you decide to sell off the old Mac.
