Can't allow people to join FaceTime call with link

Using the new FaceTime link feature in iOS 15 to invite people using a link, the host can't allow them to join the call.

I invited a few people to a FaceTime call using the new link feature in iOS 15. At the agreed time, they joined from the link and were prompted in their browser to enter their name.

As the host, in the call, I can see in the pop-up menu "X person(s) waiting>". After tapping that, I see a list of their names, each followed by "🔗 wants to join".

Tapping on these has no effect and I cannot find a way to let them in.

Meanwhile, they are seeing "Waiting to be let in... [spinning wheel]" at the top of their browser window.

Furthermore, under the list of names of those waiting, I see ⨁Add People. It is greyed out and tapping it has no effect.

How can I allow people to join?

Hey Marc,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! We understand you're trying to create a group FaceTime call by inviting others to join from their browser through your shared link, but it's failing to work. Let's help.

Based on details in Create a link to a FaceTime call on iPhone, "They need the latest version of either Chrome or Edge. Sending video requires H.264 video encoding support." How to send a link to connect on FaceTime on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch | Apple Support - YouTube. Can you confirm if those requirements are being met on the recipients end that are using a browser to join your call?

Looking forward to hearing back from you on this post.

Regards.

Yes, yes, I checked all that. Thanks for the video but note that it shows almost everything except how to let someone in the chat. That’s the point where the process failed for me, as I explained in the original post. I also made it clear that participants were able to get to the point of entering their name and trying to join, to the point of the “waiting to be let in…” message.
