Monterey 12.0.1. Second Monitor Issue

Same! This is awful! I just updated to Monterey and now i am not able to use my second monitor as i was able to before the update. I am usingUSB C to HDMI (that works) and i connected my second monitor using USB to VGA not working. Everything worked perfectly before this update. Terrible! APPLE NEEDS TO FIX.

I use my IPad Pro as a second monitor/drawing tablet for illustration work. Upgraded to Monterey. Briefly connects then disconnects. brand new client work and I’m completely dead in the water.

Maybe Santa can fix for Christmas.

Didn't work for me, cant even click on anything because it keeps blanking out both screens.

Doesn't sound like you have been having the same problem as many of us.

You can't move your mouse, you can't select anything.

Same issue here. Apple has shown they do not care for professionals with this absolute negligence.

I just found the same problem. I upgraded to Monterey about 2 weeks ago, and had to connect a second screen today for the first time since upgrading. I used exactly the same set up as usual (same cord, same adaptor and same screen). I started to get the second screen switching in and out, making the second screen function useless. I changed the VGA connection to HDMI and had the same problem. Had absolutely no issues before upgrading to Monterey. How about fixing the bug.

I have two offices and at one office I use Samsung 27" curved and dual external monitors work. At my other office I have Lenovo 24" monitors and it only allows me to use one external monitor. Same Thunderbolt dock at both locations.

Tried also installing Twitch Studio but it didn't help with this problem. I'm waiting for Apple Support to call me today. I sent them a lot of all kinds of log files on Monday. Hopefully they have found the solution. If so, I will post it here. I am afraid the only solution is a fresh install.

Mine either. By the way, I talked with a support technician and I asked for send me an adapter that they can know works. He told me that they cannot do that and kindly asked me to wait until the updates of Monterey. It is not serious as the MacBook Pro are very expensive machines

I have a new macbook pro - messenger is not seeing my 2d monitor - which my client wants to see.

this is the start of 2022.

So frustrating! Upgrade to 12.0.1 yielded NO external monitor! I've tried two different adaptors, two different monitors, 3 different HDMI cables, both HDMI ports on my Samsung monitor... all to no avail. Everything has been working FINE for months prior to applying the upgrade. APPLE, you need to fix this quickly... I lead a global sales performance team... I can't function with the poor camera, and tiny screen on my MacBook Pro.... I'm connected to a single 32" Samsung monitor. HELP!

I made the upgrade just before Xmas break without checking properly how it was working,

Today, 1st boot, the mac gets stuck for minutes on every single click and suddenly my 2 monitors (connected via thunderbolt) start flashing and getting on and off.

It looks it works fine with just on monitor connected

I have the same issue with 12.01 on my new MacBook Pro. And just to make it stranger: The (almost-new) monitor has two HDMI ports, and it detects the computer, but the computer doesn't detect the monitor.

Apple - this is ridiculous. My first comment on this forum, this issue was NOVEMBER 4. Tomorrow will be two months that I have been unable to use my external monitor. Surely you have people working on a bug fix? This is unacceptable and I am really disappointed. This is only the second time in nearly 30 years of working on Mac-based computers that I have been so let down, but this is a BIG PROBLEM.

I had another phone call from Apple senior support person. Now Apple denies the existence of the problem and blames the display manufacturer. Isn't it weird that this happens to all of us at the same time even with different monitor manufacturers?

Apple isn't the same company they were 5-10 years ago. Faulty OS updates, hardware issues, lack of cohesion and communication between customer service departments, Beta testing seems to be a thing of the past. They need to get it together, this is unacceptable.
