Messages hangs after upgrade to IOS 15.1

We understand you're encountering an issue with the Messages app on your iPhone becoming unresponsive when connected to a charge.

As a starting point, if the behavior is only occurring when connected to the charger, we recommend testing with a new charging cable, and from a different USB power source, to see if the same behavior occurs. If it doesn't, it may be necessary to replace either the charging cable, or power source.

If the same behavior occurs on multiple chargers, complete the steps you haven't already taken from the following page, that apply to the Messages app (you can't complete remove, and re-install the Messages app, as it's part of iOS): If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open.

Sorry... this is my OTHER account, but the answer is still the same.

Have tried multiple cables, power supplies, and methods (lightning and magsafe) before ever entering the complaint, no happiness. Still happens everytime.

As for the other suggestion, as noted in the first report: quitting the app doesn't fix it, just continues the hang. And rebooting the phone only fixes it until I try to charge again. Of course Messages cannot be uninstalled and reinstalled, so no joy there.
