Physical Musics and Apple Music Sync and Playlist issue

I recently share Apple Music with my partner via Apple One bundle.

He owns over 9000 physical copies and all imported into the iTunes library on his iMac (running MacOS Catalina).

Here is the problem, He has no problem listen to the Apple Music on his iPhone (ios 15) but he cannot add or download any Apple Music songs into his into playlist, because I think to achieve that you need to have iCloud Music/Cloud Music turn on, and because his library will be too large to upload to the cloud without spending a lot of money of iCloud storage.

I want to know there is a way he can add Apple Music songs to his own play list mix with his own musics, without upload all his music to the cloud to be able to achieve that.

Thanks

Hello Andodo,

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. We'd like to share some information with you.

As it turns out, iCloud will only back up purchase history from Apple services. So, if your partner purchased music from the iTunes Store, that purchase history will save to iCloud. Here is what iCloud backs up:

What does iCloud back up?

Also, your partner can have up to 100,000 songs sync to his music library. When he turns on Sync Library with Apple Music, he then should be able to access all existing and new music on his iMac and iPhone. But, because Apple Music isn't a back up service, he might consider backing up his Mac using Time Machine and backing up his iPhone to his Mac. These steps might help prevent existing iCloud storage from maxing out. Here's how to back up:

Also, here are the steps if he decides to move forward with using Sync Library:

We hope this information is useful. Kind regards.

He did not purchased those musics from Apple Music store, they are all physical copies, mean those albums/singles are purchased from physical stores in Australia, or over internet.

Thanks but I think you missed understand my issue or I did not explain properly.

Basically, Trying to find a way to add Apple Music songs into non Apple Music playlist, which are in local storage, and not in the cloud.

thanks, but no help here.

because this is what I mean, you have to turn the iCloud sync on first to achieve that. If you have small library is fine, but the library is over 2TB in this situation, it will cost a lot monthly just to add few songs to playlist from Apple Music.

my question is, is there anyway you do not need to upload every musics you own to the cloud to achieve adding/mixing songs from Apple Music to your exciting playlist.

They used to be able to do that, but they changed since last MacOS, when they took iPhone sync away from music(iTunes) and I now cannot find a way to do it.
