I was using my iPhone 8 Plus as a remote for my Apple TV and now since the update it wants me to enter a code into my Apple TV to connect the iPhone with the Apple TV to use as a remote. I do not have another remote for the tv to be able to do this.

With iOS 15, the old Apple TV Remote app from the App Store is no longer functional. Instead, use the Apple TV Remote widget in Control Center. You will unfortunately have to link it up again.


What is your model Apple TV? Identify your Apple TV model - Apple Support


The Apple TV (4th generation or later) should be straight-forward to pair with, as described, if both devices are already on the same home network.


The Apple TV (3rd generation) needs a functional remote to set up the Apple TV Remote widget in Control Center.

For the Apple TV (3rd generation), your options are:


The Apple TV (2nd generation) is not compatible with the Apple TV Remote widget in Control Center.

For the Apple TV (2nd generation), your option is:
