Stop inline view attachments in mail

How do I compose an email in mail with an image as attachment (instead of inline image) in Monterey?

Typing "defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool yes" in Terminal has no effect.

If you attach an image, whether it appears to the recipient as an inline image or an attachment depends entirely on how their preferences are set: you can't control this. If you want to avoid the image showing, zip it. Then it will appear as an attachment.

As Roger stated…

That the recipient can view the image in a normal way as an attachment is a relief.

First zipping the image so that my compose window is not littered with images is a good workaround, thanks!
