Applications crashing after opening

I just randomly started having issues yesterday and today with my macbook. Mid 2012 model that was bought new in 2014. Its on Catalina 10.15.7 and I haven't had any problems until yesterday.

Yesterday my Chrome app started randomly closing. I would have to try reopening it, pages wouldn't load, so I would have to reboot the computer and things worked fine for a bit, then it would do it again.

Today, all my apps kept crashing. I was trying to open Pioneer Rekordbox 5 for work since I work in music, the app would open and then immediately close. I tried opening Chrome, same thing. I tried opening Slack, it wouldn't open. I've spent all morning rebooting, troubleshooting, etc and nothing is working. I know there have been issues with Rekordbox in the past so I even uninstalled and got rid of my various files for that to redownload the program from Pioneer, but to no avail. Same problem with the new version. Plus this seems to be different apps that open and then immediately close. Slack and Chrome have started working again randomly but seems like it's only a matter of time before they too crash again and I'll have to reboot and start over.

What's the fix here? Any help is greatly appreciated!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Suggest downloading the Application Etrecheck directly from a well Respected ASC Contributor.

The application is free or paid from added features.

Run the application with Full Disc Access ( Security & Privacy - Full Disc Access ).

It will take a Snap Shot -  both the hardware and software.

In addition to the clean up suggested by P. Phillips, have you completely uninstalled Rekordbox and rebooted, then tested for other apps crashing?

If the crashing problems go away after completely uninstalling Rekordbox, you then might review this link https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253306266 for relevance and to try when you reinstall Rekordbox. It includes some workarounds for Rekordbox incompatibility with the latest Catalina Security Update, which I see you have installed.

Based on the age of your Mac, you might consider booting into Recovery and running Disk Utility First Aid to check the disk file system and also use DriveDx to check its physical condition. You may also need a new battery but I don't see how that would cause apps to be crashing.

I suggest that you review these two discussions as it appears that others with the HD 4000 Intel graphics (which I think your computer has) are reporting issues after that Security update:

After Security Update 2021-007 for Catalina, Google Earth Pro isn't working anymore

After security update 2021-007 for catalina MAMP isn't working, Graphics kernel error: 0xfffffffb

However, it has also been reported that in Safe Mode the issues went away. Have you tried Safe Mode? Safe Mode disables third party extensions. If Safe Mode works ok for you, then that is a clue about what might be going on.

My 2013 Macbook Air works fine with all the updates applied but it has the Intel HD5000 graphic, not the HD4000.

Rebooted in recovery, ran First Aid and it was done in 2 seconds and nothing happened. Not sure what I’m supposed to look for, didn’t show any errors or any information after running First Aid in Disk Utility. And now chrome is crashing, rebooted again and didn’t have any files on my desktop, seems like things continue to get worse. Should I try reinstalling the OS or loading from a backup or something? Not sure how to proceed
