I use a Mac, so this is mostly a Mac fix. Maybe it will work with Windows.
First I have to be sure I’m connected to my cloud account. Then all I do is double click any folder on my desktop. Then a column of small icons appears in a new window (see picture below). Then you just click on the iCloud icon and a list of all your iCloud folders appears. Then you simply drag the documents from your desktop into the desired cloud folders l.
I hope this works for you, even though you’re using windows.
I should add. It appears to be account based vs machine based. I’ve had this occur on two PC desktops, both hardwired Internet, one with VPN, and two Mac laptops. Both laptops with WiFi, one with VPN running (or not), neither seems to matter. My only option is for syncing from one of the Mac laptops to iCloud Drive but no access via the web… which negates it’s effectiveness greatly.
100% agree. I've had this issue since fall 2021 and no help. I've got a folder of files on my desktop titled "Docs that won't go into iCloud" AAAAAHHHHH. This is total bonkers. I re-found this thread today expecting a fix from APPLE!!!!!
Resolution (apparently).
I've a HP PC with Windows 10 in one location that has had no problem with file uploads.
I've a HP Laptop with Windows 10 Pro at another location (different service provider) which has consistently not been able to upload files to iCloud. Furthermore, I was not able to download iCloud for Windows to the laptop - the download interface would hang forever.
As a habit, I don't 'Trust' the browser when I login to iCloud.
So, I logged out and in to iCloud on the laptop and trusted the browser. File uploads worked just fine after that.
I've also been having this issue since November (ugh!) but I just tried signing out of my browser (chrome) and signing back in while Trusting the browser, and magically I can now upload files to my icloud drive account again.
Unbelievable.
Once you eliminate the impossible......
Clearly its not a browser issue from these other reports.
Perhaps OS or service provider but at least we finally have a fix!
Given apple's penchant for security it kinda makes sense.
It still doesn't work for me, so there's no solution yet, it just seems to work for some lucky, random few. I tried a fresh sign-ins in both Brave and Safari, and in a Private window as well, and received the same message as always.
Same thing with me. I wasn't able to upload any type of file from my Windows PC into my iCloud Drive until I switch my home wifi to my mobile data Personal Hotspot internet connection. I have two home internet providers and neither one of them could let my files go to iCloud uploading using my web browser. Using internet connection from my mobile, I was able to upload anything I wanted. I haven't tried using iCloud Drive for Windows. Maybe it is an option if you do not want to waste your mobile data.
Thank you! I have AT&T and this just started happening to me a week ago. I did as you said - used my iphone as a hotspot and connected my PC to it - and it works! Annoying, but at least now I have a workaround. Thank you, thank you!
The last few posts led me to a solution for me. So, thank you!
The discussion of trusting the browser made me think of Firefox's tracking protection. The settings say that I'm blocking tracking content only in Private Windows. But when I loaded the iCloud page I checked the security shield next to the url and sure enough it said I was blocking trackers for iCloud. I made iCloud an exeption and now I can upload files in the browser again.
All this time wasted and I could have fixed it. I'm ashamed!
We also just started having this problem at our house on ATT Fiber. We can upload our files to iCloud drive on our iPhones but cannot on any of our Windows PCs. Its driving us crazy, please post a fix!
I experience the same issue since yesterday... no way to upload anything to iCloud drive through any browser anymore (I tried Edge, FireFox, Chrome)...
yep, same mess. I tried different browsers, reloaded iCloud, etc. etc. there is a reason and an answer, just will apple advise.
Yes. I am experiencing the same problem. It started late last week and hasn't been corrected by switching browsers, restarting the computers, or simply waiting for the weekend to pass.
that requires you to sync with a folder and requires you to store the files in both places.
I just want to upload and none of this makes any sense to me. Why would wifi be a problem?
