I am not able to play sound from the internet on my iPhone XR since an update a month or so ago. Speakerphone works, and no speaker distortion on them. Any ideas on fixing this?

Hello EleeNoCal,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help with your iPhone sound. We're happy to help.

1. Please start by checking your settings using this help article: Adjust the volume on iPhone - Apple Support

You have two options. The volume buttons work differently while listening to things: "When you’re on the phone or listening to songs, movies, or other media, the buttons on the side of iPhone adjust the audio volume. Otherwise, the buttons control the volume for the ringer, alerts, and other sound effects. You can also use Siri to turn the volume up or down."

Or you can lock the volume buttons: "Lock the ringer and alert volumes in Settings

  • "Go to Settings .

Tap Sounds & Haptics (on supported models) or Sounds (on other iPhone models).

Turn off Change with Buttons."

2. If you still have issues, please go through the troubleshooting in these help articles:

If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker - Apple Support

If your iPhone is stuck in headphone mode - Apple Support

If people can't hear you also, check the troubleshooting in this help article: If the microphones on your iPhone aren't working - Apple Support

Thanks and have a wonderful day.
