Hello Bigskyuk,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're unable to play music from your iPhone when connected via USB to your car. We're happy to look into this with you.
Please try the steps below:
How to connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your car
Have a nice day!
My iPhone XR is up to date at iOS 15.2.1 and will not play through the aux port in my vehicle. I could play it prior to the update. But my daughter can play her iPhone 11 through the aux, she is also on iOS 15.2.1. I have tried restarting. None of the apps that play audio can play on my car, when they used to
Ever since I got the latest iOS 15.5 my phone had lost its mind!!! It will only charge when it’s off, and when I plug it into my car stereo, the stereo doesn’t recognize it and switch to USB like it has been doing for the past 2 years. But when I turn off the phone and plug it into the car radio usb it charges it. So this HAS to be something wrong with the software that was caused by this stupid 15.5 update that installed while I was sleeping. I have since disabled automatics updates because this iOS has made my phone useless and in order to charge it I have to turn it off and plug it in for like 8 hours. It worked 100% fine before the update. I want my phone from 2 days ago back!! :(
Still having same issues after multiple updates. At this point I wish I could just select Bluetooth as an audio output option while docked. The dock being the audio output and charging and data link seams to be too messy.
Well, I spoke too soon. Back to it’s old antics. Will play for a few seconds when docked and then audio stops. Cars system shows as still “playing” but no sound. Phone says stopped. When I hit play on phone audio comes out of phone speakers instead of cars system. Very frustrating
Not the problem I’m having. This doesn’t fix intermittent playback. There is a deeper problem with app conflicts over dock audio output control or something. Very much like any other audio driver conflict.
For 30 minutes I messed with it paring and d pairing using usb cable at times it worked wirelessly and at times it didn’t but it’s been magically working wirelessly since posted was 30 minutes of trial and error no idea what happened I suspect Apple did something re an update though.
i have owned my car for a year and a half and have finally today managed to get the music to play through the car using the USB thanks to this tip!
downloaded one song for £0.59 and have now been able to use Spotify to play the rest of my music but before it wasn’t even recognising my device but it would for my friends and partners phone!
this tip saved me !
Thanks I done it this morning and problem solved.
Car shows connected and playing
iPhone doesn’t show as playing, nor does it show the dock as an output
Fragamason: Worked for me as well :) Happy days.
Thanks! This fixed it for me.
this fixes a whole different issue regarding usb playback in general but not intermittent playback issues. I am still having a horribly inconsistent usb dock playback experience.
This worked for me!! Thank you!
YES!!!! Thank you!
2011 Pajero and iPhone 6s and suddenly stopped working months ago! This fixed it! And I also have a new rad song of Hayden James’! Whoop whoop!!!
